Pack 226 has students / scouts from KRS, TJS, and Chatham Day. We welcome boys and girls and siblings are included in many activities as well. Our activities center on the themes and electives below.
Meetings
Each month we have 1 Pack meeting and 1 Den meeting. Meetings are optional and we try hard to work around sports schedules and town events.
2nd grade and above can be dropped off.
Scout Terminology
For the new folks, here are some common terms:
Pack – this is everyone in our group, from across schools. We have members from TJS, KRS and Chatham Day. We are Pack 226. Central Ave has Pack 124 and St. Vincent’s has Pack 7.
Den – this is the grade. There are ~5 den meetings during the school year and are scheduled by your Den Leader. Dens typically have 8 – 12 scouts.
Council – ours is called Patriots Path and you register your Scout with them and pay annual dues of ~$150 a year. They insure all of our activities and put on activities throughout the year for us.
Pinewood Derby – prior to the event, the scout builds a small racing car from a kit. Then we all come together to race. We offer help in building the cars; see our calendar below for dates.
Sleepovers – a well known term, but ours often happen at the Intrepid or other museum.
Our Leadership
All leaders are background checked and trained. They meet 2 or 3 times during the year to share ideas for den meetings and make sure everyone is feeling supported.
Membership
New scouts will need to register and can do so here. You can select to auto-renew your membership each year or the larger Scouting organization will email you when it is time to re-new.
Calendar
Our calendar can always be found here.
Activities are optional. We try to plan lots of them, so that you can make some of them.
RSVPs are requested, but no one is held to it. It just helps plan for food and supplies.
Communication
Pack emails will come from MadisonNJPack226@gmail.com, Den emails will come from your specific den leader(s)
Fundraising
Our expenses include leadership registration each year, camp outs, pinewood derby, pizzas and den-specific activities.
We sell popcorn in the fall to raise funds. Sales sheets will be available at our September Pack events.
We ask that each Scout raises $100 (that is $300 worth of popcorn).
